Path Sankey / Feature request, allow ”missing” node

In the current Sankey chart you have the option to group values missing a certain node into a “null” node. By doing this the end users might think that all these values originates from the same node (In the example below Node 2).

I would like to have the ability to be able to select “Skip Missing node” allowing the bands to stretch from Node 1 directly to node 3 in the example below. This would allow developers to either group “null” values as a “null” node or to give the ability to show a direct line straight from Node 1 to Node 3.

Example of use case:
Ex, when looking at cases in a help desk, various case types might have various amounts of nodes/steps. By allowing “skipping” a node the users analyzing data would see a more accurate representation of the data.

  • Hi David,

Thanks for your suggestion, this is planned on our road map. I can't share any further info on a date at this time but this is something we want to build for our customers

  • Hi Piers,

Thank you for the quick feedback.

  • @David - thanks for raising this.

@Piers - thanks for the quick response.

Would there be any way to get some indicative timings on this, e.g. what's the chance of this coming sometime in 2020 ? If it's going to be a long time we'll look at getting a custom visualization developed.

FYI below is another example of how this could look -

  • Hi all, Is this still in planning, by chance? I have a perfect use case for this, in which I’d love to use a sankey to represent the flow of data/data lineage across our different platforms much like what appears in Steven’s example (and whereby each node represents a platform in our ecosystem), but without the ability to ‘skip’ to further nodes I fear this will misrepresent the data and compromise the whole concept. I really hope this is something you’re still considering – it’s so close to being such a versatile sankey, and it’d be such a relief if I can keep this deliverable together in Qlik with the rest of the associated visualisations. Thanks!
  • Also for us it would be very useful to have this functionality!
