Viztips available on limited charts?

Viztip would be ideal for a clients request since the heatmap/treemap does not work as expected. Instead, we are tricking our pivot table to behave how we expected the heatmap/treemap to work. But after some digging, the viztip feature seems to be constrained to just a few charts which seems to be counterintuitive. Any ideas on how to get this to work on a pivot table and if not, if this feature will be available? Or any loopholes on how to bring up a tooltip with images and texts on a pivot table!
