What are the hardware and software requirements?
This strongly depends on the number of comments and the expected traffic. Typically the average Qlik Sense server specification is OK.
What ports are used, and are they configurable?
The default is port 1980 but it is configurable.
What additional software is installed with Collaboration?
PostgreSQL, PM2 windows service and the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 are installed with Collaboration. Node.js and npm are used but not installed.
Is TLS used?
SSL/TLS is optional and where TLS is used it is version 1.2.
Where is the data stored?
Data is stored in a SQL database. Default is a PostgreSQL database installed together with Vizlib Server, but the connection can later be configured to connect to other databases.
What databases are supported?
Only officially support the default PostgreSQL installation database. You will have the ability to connect Collaboration to another database of your choice, however, we do not offer support and assistance on those integrations. Other databases you could technically deploy Vizlib Collaboration on are Oracle, Microsoft SQL, MySQL, and SQLite.
Can comments be accessed from outside the extension?
Yes, comments can be read from the database (with the correct access) and loaded in to an app or otherwise exported for other use cases. We also provide a comments browser in the VMC of Vizlib Server.
How is the data from different projects/applications separated from each other?
Comments are stored with a defined Workspace and the qId (object or sheet) and appId,. Other optional configurable separators are Channel, Sheet, Hierarchy Groups and Section Access.
How is data from different projects secured against unauthorized access?
We support different level of access, from Connector, Hierarchy Group and Section Access. Custom Properties on the user can also be used to define access. Section access depending on the field values in hierarchy groups is applied. (I.e. if a user does not have access to certain data, the comments related to that data will not be available.)
