Vizlib Custom Report Properties - Visualization Types

Visualization Types are activated per data-set in the property panel. When new visualizations are added to the Custom Report the new visualization has to be activated manually to make it available to  users. Native Qlik Sense visualizations are shown in dark gray and Vizlib visualizations are shown in blue. There are currently (in version 5.9.0) 15 different visualizations available.

Native Table


The native table visualization is shown in Figure 1

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native table can use an unlimited number of dimensions and measures and is used as the fall-back visualization during automated visualization selection.

Note: A table which uses only measures can be constructed and displayed in these 3 scenarios. 

  • KPI is disabled as a visualization.
  • Selecting 3 or more measures and no dimensions.
  • Table is the actively selected visualization, and auto chart selection is not enabled. 


Context menu options

Reset column widths: When columns have been manually adjusted this option will reset them to the default width selected by Qlik Sense.

Vizlib Table


The Vizlib table visualization (Figure 2) includes visual elements such as indicators and mini-charts.

Note: Use the Native Table Master Item to create a master table, rather than Vizlib Table. 


Dimension and Measure requirements

The native table can use an unlimited number of dimensions and measures. 

Note: A table which uses only measures can be constructed and displayed in these 3 scenarios. 

  • KPI is disabled as a visualization.
  • Selecting 3 or more measures and no dimensions.
  • Table is the actively selected visualization, and auto chart selection is not enabled.


Context menu options

Hover highlight on/off:  Turing on and off the highlighting of rows on hover.

Export: This will display options to export the table data in a variety of formats - Export Data to ExcelExport Formatted Data to ExcelExport data to CSVExport data to TSV. 


Changing Visualizations

Settings to choose visualizations other than text are available for measures. They can be found in the left hand menu or by hovering from the Analytic Search measures (Figures 3 and 4).

Indicators:  Shows and arrow up (green) or down (red) depending on the number.

Progress bar: Largest number shows the longest bar.

Mini Chart: Can be either a line- or bar chart. The user will choose a dimension to use with the mini chart.

Native Pivot Table


The native Qlik Sense Pivot Table visualization is shown in Figure 5

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native pivot table requires a minimum of one dimension and one measures and can use an unlimited amount of dimensions and measures.


Context menu options

Fully expanded on/off:  This will set the table in fully expanded mode where no plus signs are visible to expand/collapse rows.

Indent rows on/off: This will show the table in indented mode.

Sorting:  This sorts the table values, the options are Default, By first measure Ascending and By first measure Descending. Only available when Sort by first measure is enabled in the property pane. 

Expand/Collapse: The option will expand (or collapse) all rows. In contrast to Fully expanded on/off this option will keep the plus-signs for expansion available.

Vizlib Pivot Table


The Vizlib Pivot Table visualization (Figure 6) is available with Custom Report version 3.0.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Vizlib Pivot Table requires a minimum of one dimension and one measure and can use an unlimited amount of dimensions and measures.


Context menu options

Fully expanded on/off:  This will set the table in fully expanded mode where no plus signs are visible to expand/collapse rows.

Indent rows on/off: This will show the table in indented mode.

Hover highlight on/off: The option highlight rows and columns when hovering over a cell in the table.

Expand/Collapse All: The option will expand (or collapse) all rows. In contrast to Fully expanded on/off this option will keep the plus-signs for expansion available.

Export: This will display options to export the table data in a variety of formats - Export Formatted Data to Excel, Fast export straight table to Excel, Fast export pivot table to Excel, Fast export straight table CSV and Fast export pivot table TSV

Vizlib Sankey Chart


The Vizlib Sankey Chart visualization (Figure 7) is available with Custom Report version 3.0.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Sankey chart requires a minimum of two dimensions and a maximum of one measure. 

Dimensions are sorted for the left to the right.


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the Vizlib Sankey chart.

Vizlib Venn Diagram


The Vizlib Venn Diagram visualization (Figure 8) is available with Custom Report version 3.0.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Venn Diagram requires two dimensions and one measure. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the Vizlib Venn Diagram.

Native Combo Chart


The native Qlik Sense Combo Chart is shown in Figure 9.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Combo Chart requires a minimum of one dimensions and one measure. It will also work with one dimensions and two measures or one measure and two dimensions. Using both multiple measures and dimensions will not work.


Context menu options

Show/Hide data points:  This will set enable the data points on a line.

Show/Hide line data labels: This will show the data labels (numbers) on lines.

Show/Hide bar data labels: This will show the data labels (numbers) on bars.


Context menu options

Using Measure color on a master item will allow setting a specific color to a measure when using one dimension. When two dimensions are used the second dimension colors will decide the color of bars and lines.

Vizlib Heatmap


The Vizlib Heatmap visualization (Figure 10) is available with Custom Report version 3.9.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Heatmap requires two dimensions and and one or two measures. 

The first dimension is used for rows and the second one for columns. 

The first measure is used for the color and the second one is only displayed in the tooltip.


Context menu options

Reverse gradient:  Colors are set as a gradient between the highest and lowest value in the visualization. The setting flips the coloring between low-to-high and high-to-low.

Change color: All the possible color schemes from the Vizlib Heatmap are available for use. 

Full size expand: The visualization can be sized to fit the available space or sized to data.

Native Map


The native Qlik Sense Map visualization (Figure 11) is available with Custom Report version 4.0.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The map requires one dimension. A dimension and a measure is recommended. 

The dimension is used for the geographic region (country) and the second one for the color. If only a dimension is used without a measure all geographic regions will get the same color. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the map.

Native KPI


The native Qlik Sense visualization (Figure 12) is available with Custom Report version 4.0.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native KPI requires one or two measures. 

The first measure is the main measure and the second is used for the comparison number. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the native KPI.

Native Scatter Chart


The native Qlik Sense Scatter Chart visualization (Figure 12) is available with Custom Report version 4.3.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native Scatter Chart accepts one dimension and requires two or three measures. 

The first two measures are the main measures that decide position in the plot area and the (optional) third is used for the size of the bubble. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the native Scatter Chart.

Vizlib Scatter Chart


The Vizlib Scatter Chart visualization (Figure 13) is available with Custom Report version 5.4.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native Scatter Chart accepts one dimension and requires at least two measures. 

The first two measures are the main measures that decide position in the plot area and the (optional) third is used for the size of the bubble. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the native Scatter Chart.

Native Pie Chart


The native Qlik Sense Pie Chart visualization (Figure 14) is available with Custom Report version 5.9.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The native Pie Chart accepts one dimension and requires at least one measure. 

The dimension defines the category of data shown and the measure defines the proportion of the chart assigned to each dimension value. 

Selections are made by clicking on a portion of the chart. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the native Pie Chart.

Vizlib Pie Chart


The Vizlib Pie Chart visualization (Figure 15) is available with Custom Report version 5.9.0 and above.

Dimension and Measure requirements

The Vizlib Pie Chart accepts one dimension and one measure. 

The dimension defines the category of data shown and the measure defines the proportion of the chart assigned to each dimension value. 

Selections are made by clicking on a portion of the chart. 


Context menu options

There are no special context menu settings for the Vizlib Pie Chart.
