Vizlib Button Best Practice and Troubleshooting

When you're working with Vizlib Button it's important to be clear about what you can and can't do. We've collected together some tips for best practices and any known issues and limitations, listing them here for you.

Best Practice

  • Let's introduce you - If you're new to Vizlib Button, or looking to find some information, the Introduction page has links to the product resources and knowledge base articles.
  • Set up - When you add a Vizlib Button object to a sheet, you'll see a Click here button appear. When you click, the property panel will open at the Button Items settings to help you get started quickly.
  • Use templates - Templates in Vizlib Button help you apply a look and feel instantly, saving you time and effort. You can even design your own and save them.
  • Action! - You can add Vizlib Actions to your button to make it more lively and link your data to help with analysis (e.g. another sheet or a URL). But export actions (Export Object Data, Export Object PDF, Export Object Image) for Vizlib Button aren't currently supported in Qlik SaaS due to using third-party extensions. You can find out more information here. You can also use the Interactivity settings to add animations.
  • Performance - Vizlib Button uses the Qlik Sense hub engine, and each individual value will be processed separately. You can find more information in our article on Best Practices and Performance Optimization in Qlik Sense.
