In Vizlib Custom Report, it is now possible to use a search bar instead of/or in combination with the left-hand menu of dimensions, measures, and other settings.

Analytic Search
Analytic Search settings are found in the Settings section of the property panel (Figure 1).

Basic settings for analytic search are also located in this section.
When Auto-complete Search is On (Figure 2), Custom Report will automatically interpret the text input without waiting for the users to press Enter. Delay is the time between the last keyboard input and the evaluation of the text. Auto-complete is by default set to Off.

The View layout (Figure 3.1) option defines how the Search bar behaves with your field selections.
By default, the View layout is on a Single row (Figure 3.2) which means you will scroll to view all the fields you currently have selected.

Chaning these Multiple rows (Figure 4.1) presents additional options that control how you interact with the Search bar.
The Default options define the View disply mode to Collapsed which means to view all the fields you have to hover over the Search bar to view them (Figure 4.2).
To change the number of rows to display, change the number in the View row count input box (Figure 4.5).

When the View display mode is set to Expanded (Figure 4.3) the Search bar is expanded. To change the number of rows to display, change the number in the View row count input box (Figure 4.5).
This permanently displays your fields across the number of rows you specified

If the number of fields selected exceed the View row count then a Veritcal scrollbar is shown (Figure 4.6) which is either present or activated when you hover over the element; this depends on your View display mode setting.

When Automatic chart selection is On (Figure 3), a visualization will be displayed according top default requirements for the object type (see full details here), otherwise a message will be displayed to Choose a visualization.

Note: The suggestion function for dimensions, measures and visualizations is always on and the text automatically evaluates regardless of the auto-complete setting (Figure 5).

Settings for the color and visual design of the Search-bar is set in the Appearance where Analytic Search has a separate section (Figure 6).

Selecting Visualizations
Visualizations can be selected by simply typing the name of the visualization in the search-bar. Once there, the visualization can also be switched using the pop-up menu (Figure 7).

Filtering
All dimensions used can be filtered just like any dimension in Qlik (Figure 8). Use the pop-up and select the filter-icon. Make selections like any normal Qlik filter and don't forget you can also use features like search, select all and select possible inside the filter selection.

Disable Measures and Dimensions
When a measure or dimension does not fit within the restrictions of a chosen visualization it will be automatically disabled. To enable it, use the toggle-button (Figure 9).

Note: The dimension and measure sort bar will be hidden if choose to Hide analytic search (Figure 10).

Voice Search (Speech-to-text)
To use the voice search function (Google Chrome Only), press the microphone button and speak clearly (Figure 11) or press CTRL+M to start the recording.

Whenever you stop speaking the speech will be written as text in the search bar and any recognized dimensions, measures and visualization names will be picked up. If no voice is detected the previous search will be left as is. Like written text, it will not always require an exact match and anything recognized can be changed manually after the result is displayed.
To add more it is possible to click the microphone again and clear the selection with the x to start over.
Tips: For the best result always use a headset or high quality microphone. Pronounce clearly and speak slightly slower than usual to get the best result. There are more tips in the Limitations for Analytic Search in our Best Practice articles.
Tips and Tricks!
Hide the left hand menu (Figure 12). Use this setting in the property panel:

Hide the visualization icons or turn them into a drop-down (Figure 13).

In a combo-chart, use the icon on a measure to change the visual representation between bar, line and icon and select which axis it should use (Figure 14).

You can make a partial selection by entering text for a search and selecting the result using the ↵ button. A warning icon will be displayed (Figure 15 uses Country as an example) which clears when you confirm the selection by clicking on the list item.
